General Traits:
Brady is among the best leaders in the National Football League. His calm under pressure in big situations have been a trademark of his career. Despite being a 6th round draft pick, Brady quickly learned the Patriots offense and was ready to take over for an injured Drew Bledsoe in his second year. The rest, as they say, is history. The Patriots have gone on to win three Super Bowls and amass a perfect 16-0 regular season record in 2007.

Position Traits:
Accuracy: Brady’s strength is his accuracy. He is known best for his touch, throwing a very catchable ball. Receivers like working with Brady because he puts the ball in the right spots and will not hang them out to dry. He will occassionally float a pass high when his back foot is not set. Brady does not throw well on the run and must set up to fire deep. Brady has struggled at times with his intermediate accuracy and does not throw well if forced to move to his left.

Arm Strength: Initially thought to be Brady’s weakness, especially when entering the NFL. Brady has the ability to throw deep and can stretch a defense vertically. Since teaming up with Randy Moss in 2007, Brady has taken more to throwing deep. His arm strength is still not graded as the best in the League, but is among the top arms. When combined with his accuracy, which is top at long distances, Brady’s overall passing abilities are regarded as top two or three.

Decision Making: Brady’s three Super Bowl titles are directly tied in to his decision making. Early in his career, Brady did have a habit of throwing late over the middle, which resulted in many interceptions and batted down passes. As of last season, this has begun happening less and less. Brady will still force in the late pass, but shows an amazing feel for the rush and knows when to check down to his secondary receivers.

Field Vision: The best in the business. Brady scans the entire field well. His ability to see down field and in to the flats make him a dangerous passer. Brady is prone to late passes over the middle, especially deep or in the red-zone. At times he fails to see a zone corner and will make an errant pass.

Mechanics: Does have a hitch in his delivery. Tends to drop the ball below his shoulder at times. Brady’s arm motion is over the top and clean. He keeps the ball high throughout his motion. Will throw off his back foot often, but has improved in stepping up and in to a throw.

Mobility: Brady is classically slow, but shows great mobility in stepping up and out of the pocket. He is not a threat to run. A long stride, but very heavy footed.

Pocket Awareness: Among the best ever. Brady has a great knack for feeling the blitz and knowing when to step up and to the side. He stands tall in the pocket and is not afraid to hang in against pressure.

Productivity: Brady holds three Super Bowl rings, the NFL single season record for touchdown passes and many post-season records. He will forever be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play.
