Roland Minor interview

Scott Porter sits down with Virginia Tech cornerback Roland Minor. Find out which player Minor fashions his game after and who his top fan is.

Scott Porter: What have you been doing in the offseason to prepare for the NFL workouts?

Roland Minor: Well there is no offseason when you trying get in the NFL, but I’ve been training at Test Sports Club in Branchburg, N.J.

Scott Porter: What would you tell an NFL team interested in drafting Roland Minor?

Roland Minor: That Roland Minor is a player that will be slept on this draft giving what happened to him, but that only makes him work harder and want it more.

Scott Porter: What are your biggest strengths?

Roland Minor: My size, speed and ability to move my hips well. I would also say my knowledge for the game.

Scott Porter: What is your current 40? Height? Weight?

Roland Minor: Right now I’m at sub-4.4 by the time my Pro Day comes, I’ll be back down to 4.3 lows, 6-foot 200 pounds.

Scott Porter: Who has influenced you the most throughout your college career?

Roland Minor: I got a lot of tips early on from DeAngelo Hall and I watched a lot of Roland “Champ” Bailey film, modeling my game after him.

Scott Porter: Who is the toughest player you have ever faced?

Roland Minor: Calvin Johnson, I would say.

Scott Porter: What is your favorite memory while at Virginia Tech?

Roland Minor: My entire career I learned a lot everyday I was there and I value all of my time spent there.

Scott Porter: How has playing with cornerbacks Brandon Flowers and Victor Harris made you a better player?

Roland Minor: Learning from other players and getting to know different styles.

Scott Porter: Is there a player in the NFL who reminds you of yourself?

Roland Minor: Without a doubt Champ Bailey. He is physical, covers well, is always around the ball. Champ tackles well. He also has great instincts.

Scott Porter: Did you have a favorite NFL team and player growing up?

Roland Minor: I was always a Washington Redskins fan. I never really had a favorite player.

Scott Porter: What are your expectations of yourself in the NFL?

Roland Minor: To be the premiere prototype corner and a role model for my brother.

Scott Porter: Who is your No. 1 fan?

Roland Minor: My daughter every football player she sees she thinks is me, so without a doubt she is.
