2012 Team Needs
DE, DT, OLB, S, WR – The Patriots offense had some kinks to work out, but their defense is still struggling.  A large part of that is due to the rash in injuries this team has dealt with, especially in the secondary.  With that being said, the pass rush is in need of a boost.  Andre Carter and Mark Anderson have formed a respectable pass rushing duo that combines for 16 of the Patriots 25 sacks, but it is still an area of concern.  Carter is 32 years old and won’t be around forever, while Anderson is on pace to have only his 2nd double digit sack season since his rookie year in 2006.  The Patriots will get Ras-I Dowling, among others, back next year.  But adding more of a pass rushing presence will only make their job easier.  Other areas that need improvement for the Patriots would be at safety and wide receiver.  The Patriots do not really have a stand out player emerging from the wreckage to partner with Patrick Chung, nor do they have the legitimate deep threat to open the offense up.  Ochocinco was brought there to make defenses play the whole field, but it just hasn’t worked out.
