Now that National Signing Day is over, Teran Lewis catches up with 3-star Dual-Threat QB recruit Ebahn Feathers
Teran Lewis: With a powerhouse team like Southern Cal and other teams like Oregon St. and Arizona offering you scholarships, What made you chose a Non-BCS school like Fresno St?
Ebahn Feathers: I was born and raised in Fresno and I grew up watching the Bulldogs my whole life. Plus, I want to play quarterback at the next level and Fresno St. is the only school who wanted to recruit me as a quarterback while other schools wanted me as a DB.
Teran Lewis: You’re listed at 6′ 0″ 208 lbs and have 4.4 speed, Do you think that’s the reason other schools wanted you as a safety instead of a quarterback?
Ebahn Feathers: I think so, I don’t have prototypical height for a quarterback so that’s why I believe teams wanted me to be in the secondary.
Teran Lewis: You started off as a running back in high school and then made the switch to quarterback after your freshman year, What caused the position change and did you like it?
Ebahn Feathers: To tell you the truth I didn’t like it. I played tailback since I was 8 years old and that’s all I was used to but my coach told me I was special with ball in my hands and that he wanted me to touch the ball on every play.
Teran Lewis: After having such a great year in 2007; Rivals.com gave you a 3rd star and listed you as the 25th best Dual-Threat QB in the country, How did that make you feel?
Ebahn Feathers: It was a great honor. I worked real hard in the weight room over the summer and dedicated myself to become a better passer. I’ve always been a great runner but I knew that I needed to become more accurate as a passer to be able to play quarterback at the next level.
Teran Lewis: There were rumors that the departure of ex-offensive coordinator Jim McElwain (Alabama) almost made a few recruits decommitt, Were you one of those players?
Ebahn Feathers: Definitely Not, I believe when you give a school a solid verbal that you need to stick to your word.
Teran Lewis: Fresno St. hasn’t had a quarterback with your running ability in over 2 decades, Do you think Pat Hill will have some special plays for you to run in his offense?
Ebahn Feathers: When I took my official visit coach Hill and I talked and he told me that he’s been wanting to bring a new dimension to the Fresno St. offense.
Teran Lewis: What player(s) are you most looking forward to working with next season?
Ebahn Feathers: All of them. I am most intrigued by running back Ryan Matthews and wide receiver Tim Lang. They were both 3-star recruits like myself who were quarterbacks in high school. I think we could create mis-matches when they put all three of us on the field at once.
Teran Lewis: Did Ryan Matthews impress you last season?
Ebahn Feathers: Without a doubt! He wasn’t even the starting running back for most of the year and he finished the season with 800 rushing yds and 14 touchdowns even though he missed 3 games with injury. I think he was right up there with Knowshown Moreno for freshman all-american honors.
Teran Lewis: What college or pro quarterback do you feel you’re most like and why?
Ebahn Feathers: I see myself in the mold of Tyrod Taylor out of Virginia Tech. I love his game and he’s an undersized quarterback like myself who can make plays in different ways.
Teran Lewis: What can you do that most people don’t know?
Ebahn Feathers: Throw the football 50 yds on my knees.
