Thomas Brown Interview
by Nick Ironside
Former Georgia Bulldog Thomas Brown spoke to our Nick Ironside.
Nick Ironside: Have you worked out with any NFL teams yet?
Thomas Brown: I have had workouts with the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots.
NI: How have the workouts gone?
TB: They’re going well for me. It’s a very exciting process - I’m just excited to find out where I’ll be going.
NI: Which teams have seemed the most interested?
TB: Well I got the impression that Carolina is actually the most interested.
NI: How can you help a team as a rookie?
TB: I feel like I’m a very versatile running back, and a good overall player. I can come in and play as an every down tailback, I can play on special teams, and I can return kicks for them.
NI: What are your strengths at running back, and what are some things you need to work on?
TB: Well I think my strengths are my speed, my agility, and my vision. And I think I need to work on being a little bit more patient running back.
NI: What was your most memorable game as a senior?
TB: I’d probably say my last game, because it was just a very emotional time. It was the last time I’d be able to put on my uniform and have fun with my teammates. And we got the win.
NI: What are your goals as far as the NFL goes?
TB: Well, I’m always a competitor. I always try to be the best at everything that I do. I feel like I’ve been blessed with natural ability and I want to come in and be the best player I can be.
NI: Do you want to have a different job after football?
TB: Most definitely. I’ve graduated from the University of Georgia, and I want to get my Masters and open my own business.
NI: Are you willing to run the scout team for a NFL team if it means you won’t see the field for a couple of years?
TB: Yes, I would be willing to do that.
NI: How good of a learner are you in terms of learning the playbook?
TB: It comes very easily to me - football is like second nature for me.
NI: What are your leadership skills like? Are you a vocal leader or someone who leads by example?
TB: I lead by example because I feel like a lot of people talk, and usually action doesn’t follow.
NI: And how important was leadership in college?
TB: It was very important, and especially when you become an older player and you’re mentoring younger kids and making sure they follow along with the team rules.
NI: What is the frame of mind you have entering the NFL draft?
TB: Well although I’m very relaxed I’m also very excited about it. I know the wait is over to get a chance to play in the National Football League, and hopefully after this weekend I’ll learn where I’ll be playing in the fall.
