Brad Roach - QB - Catawba

What are your current measurables such as height, weight, 40, and bench reps?

Brad: I was 6′6, 248 pounds, I didn’t do the bench test, and my 40 was
a 4.77 and the 2nd time I ran I ran a 4.87.  I don’t know if I will do
the bench at Catawba.

Why did you choose Catawba coming out of high school?

Brad: I had 3 offers in Catawba, Lenoir Rhyne, and Western Carolina.
I took visits to all 3.  I committed the weekend I visited Catawba.  I
felt right at home with all the coaches.  I knew they had a good
winning tradition and I could get a good education.

How did your pro day go?

Brad: I was pleased with how it went.  I was up there with the D1 guys
and I felt like I held my own.  I felt like I threw the ball pretty
good.  It was windy but I had to deal with it.

Do you have any private workouts set up?

Brad: Not yet.  The Houston Texans have called Catawba and talked with
my quarterback coach on a possible workout.  We hope to have some set
up in the next couple days.  Actually this morning the Giants QB coach
called and he is coming down to the Catawba pro day on Tuesday.   He
wants to have a meeting prior to the workout.  I am just looking for
an opportunity.

What do you feel are your biggest strengths on the field?

Brad: I feel like I am a good leader on the field, my arm strength,
and I feel like I go through my progressions really well.  I go to my
3rd and 4th receiver a lot.

What are your biggest weaknesses on the field?

Brad: I would probably have to say speed outside of the pocket.

Did you feel snubbed by not getting an invite to the combine?

Brad: I didn’t really feel that bad.  I know I am from a division 2
school and that puts a label on me.  It is hard for a D2 guy to get
in.  I wasn’t really expecting to get in but if I would have gotten in
I felt like I could have turned some heads.

What do you feel you bring to a team?

Brad: I feel like I will be a good leader on and off the field.  I
feel like I lead by example.  I get along with everybody.  I feel I am
a good outgoing person and easy to get along with.

What do you feel is the toughest thing about playing quarterback?

Brad: I don’t know.  Not much gets under my skin.  Probably just
having to stay focused all season and keep grinding by watching film,
just tons of film.  It is just kind of a mental thing you have to keep
yourself focused on.  That can slip pretty easy if you are not
careful.  It is a big part of the game.

Do you have any players on your team who you feel will be NFL
prospects next year?

Brad: George Bell our running back and maybe a few others.  I am not sure.

Do you have any expectations on draft day such as a round or team?

Brad: I hope I can get drafted but if not I hope for a free agency
deal.  I’m just looking for someone to give me an opportunity.  I
understand how hard it is to get drafted coming from a D2 school.

What are your future goals outside of playing in the NFL?

Brad: I want to start a family, be a good husband and dad, and my
major is sports management so maybe looking to doing something with
sports marketing.
