2012 Team Needs
DE, ILB, OC, OG, CB — Assuming the Ravens lock up upcoming free agent Ray Rice to a long-term deal, they look to be set with their existing offensive playmakers. Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith, and Lee Evans give them both deep threats and a big target over the middle. Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta have filled Todd Heap’s void nicely, combining for 655 yards and 4 TDs through week 12. DE is an area of concern as Cory Redding is a free agent after the season. Even if they re-sign an aging Redding (31 years old), they could stand to add some depth at DE. In regard to health and longevity issues concerning Ray Lewis, the Ravens would do well to add an ILB to back up and eventually replace the 36-year-old Lewis. With center Matt Birk and guard Ben Grubbs entering free agency after the season, the Ravens could be in need of interior lineman. If Birk is re-signed, the Ravens still need to add a young center to eventually fill the 35-year-old veteran’s spot. If the Ravens are unable to re-sign Lardarius Webb, they should target another corner to compliment rookie Jimmy Smith going forward.
