Scott Porter’s Interview with Florida, DT, Damien Jacobs.

Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest strengths?

Damien Jacobs: I feel that I am very quick off the ball. I am a good pass specialist from the DL position. I am multi dimensional in terms of being able to put pressure on the QB and helping in run support. I get good pad level and I am explosive off the ball.

Scott Porter: Playing at a program like Florida and SEC competition, how has that helped you?

Damien Jacobs: It really benefited me in all phases. I got to learn NFL schemes and go up against NFL talented players’ week in and week out. We had a top notch weight lifting program and I feel that the coaching staff really prepared me well. Playing under an NFL experienced coach in Will Muschamp helped me considerably. I come from a great program and I feel the competition level will help prepare me for the NFL.

Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest accomplishments?

Damien Jacobs: The first accomplishment was the ability to be recruited and start for the University of Florida. It was a great experience for me and I made the most of it. I came from the JUCO ranks so playing at Florida really made me appreciate it more. I took nothing for granted.

Scott Porter: What goals do you have for yourself in the NFL?

Damien Jacobs: My biggest focus is just making a team then establishing myself after that. I want to be a solid contributor. I would be fine playing behind a vet and learning the ropes and then being a good replacement once the opportunity comes.

Scott Porter: What kind of a person is an NFL team getting in Damien Jacobs?

Damien Jacobs: I feel that I am more mature then they average guy coming into the league. I am a good guy and a very humble guy at that. I will come in ready to learn and do whatever is asked of me. They will be getting a guy who is ready to give it his all. I want to give back to the organization and get involved in the community. I want to help others become better and really get involved in helping in whatever way I can to the community.

Scott Porter: Is there a player that you mimic your game after or one that reminds you of yourself?

Damien Jacobs: I don’t really compare myself to other players. Every DL has different attributes which makes him the player he is on and off the field. It would be hard to compare myself to a player already in the NFL without me playing a down in the NFL. I like to watch a lot of DL but I won’t compare myself to them they had a lot more experience then me.

Scott Porter: What are you looking forward to the most about your opportunity in the NFL?

Damien Jacobs: I am looking forward to the change in my life style. I am looking forward to doing something that I have always loved. I am looking forward to being a professional and being finished with school.

Scott Porter: What hobbies do you have off the field?

Damien Jacobs: Fishing, riding 4 wheelers. I like to be in the woods. When in Gainesville I really didn’t get to spend much time in the woods so I hope I can do more of that wherever I end up on my off days.
