Scott Porter of NewEraScouting sat down with Troy WR Eric Thomas.
Scott Porter: What advice would you give to a student athlete in your shoes as they enter the collegiate level?
Eric Thomas: I would stress that they need to manage their time well between football and school and to constantly stay on top of things.
Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest strengths?
Eric Thomas: I think my greatest strengths are my hands. I am also good at getting separation from the defender and finding ways to get open. I am also a good route runner.
Scott Porter: What are your goals for the NFL?
Eric Thomas: My first goal is to get drafted and get into an NFL camp. I want to help my team win as Super Bowl and help a team win. I want to have an impact on a winning organization.
Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest accomplishments on the field?
Eric Thomas: My freshmen year we won conference and won our bowl game.
Scott Porter: Why should a team draft Eric Thomas:
Eric Thomas: They should draft Eric Thomas because I am a playmaker. Every time I am on the field I am a threat to make a big play. I am going to do my job every day and can be relied upon.
Scott Porter: Is there an NFL player you mimic your game after?
Eric Thomas: Dez Bryant of the Cowboys. We have a similar body type and he makes plays. I have watched a lot of his highlights and have picked up on a lot of things that he does.
Scott Porter: What will you miss most about college football?
Eric Thomas: Waking up on Saturday morning and going out there to play a game. I will miss the college game day atmosphere. I will miss playing in front of the home crowd and everything that goes with playing at the college level.
Scott Porter: What do you feel will be the toughest adjustment from the college level to the pro level?
Eric Thomas: Learning the playbook.
Scott Porter: What hobbies do you have off the field?
Eric Thomas: Spending time with my son.
