Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest strengths?

Rishard Matthews: I’d have to say my greatest strengths are my ball skills and my yards after the catch. I make a lot of people miss and am a threat to score every time the ball is in my hands. I would also say one of my biggest strengths is the pride I take in my blocking. I take my blocking very serious and want to make sure I do everything possible to help my teammates out.

Scott Porter: What are your goals for the NFL?

Rishard Matthews: My first goal is to make a 53 man roster. I want to make an impact right way. I don’t want to go in there and sit behind people in the depth chart. I want to help a team win right away. Even if that is through special teams. I played defense in high school so I am more than willing to go down there and hit someone. I want to have a long successful career.

Scott Porter: Is there a player in the NFL that reminds you of yourself?

Rishard Matthews: I would say Anquan Boldin of the Ravens. He does a lot of things that go unnoticed. He is a great blocker and isn’t afraid to go across the middle of the field and take a big hit. He is good at making people miss.

Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest accomplishments?

Rishard Matthews: Coming from where I started to where I am today is an accomplishment. It was a long journey to get to where I am today and it is not over. I have faced a lot of adversity to get to where I am at. I would also say from a team aspect beating Boise State on their field last year as a Junior. I had a very good game and that is something I will never forget.

Scott Porter: What hobbies do you have off the field?

Rishard Matthews: My hobbies consist of being simple and relaxing. I like watching Law and Order on TV. I am on my laptop a lot. I relax and watch a lot of red box movies.

Scott Porter: What type of person is an NFL team getting in Rishard Matthews?

Rishard Matthews: They are getting someone who is responsible and ready. I am ready to make play and help a team win. They are getting a playmaker who has no off the field issues. I have a great personality and I will represent a team very well on and off the field.

Scott Porter: Who has been your biggest influence throughout your career?

Rishard Matthews: I would have to say my sister Avin. I have been through a lot of ups and downs and she has always been my #1 fan. She has always been there and helped me out since day one. I appreciate everything she has done for me.

Scott Porter: What are you looking forward to the most about your opportunity in the NFL?

Rishard Matthews: Just to play and have fun. I am looking forward to continuing to play the game of football. I want to prove I can play for a long time and be successful on and off the field. I already have some off the field projects I want to work on once I get there.
