NewEraScouting’s Scott Porter had the honor of interviewing Boise State DE Tyrone Crawford. Crawford will be attending this seasons NFL combine, find out more below in his interview:
Scott Porter: What was your overall experience at Boise State like?
Tyrone Crawford: It was a great experience. I played with my best friend Mike Atkinson and it was truly great playing for the Broncos. I felt I was coached by the best DL coach in the nation. I learned so much as I developed here. I was very happy playing for a winning team and hopefully that carries over into the NFL.
Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest strengths?
Tyrone Crawford: As a pass rusher I think my strengths are my speed and strength and my power. I have added a lot of outside speed and moves to my list this year.
Scott Porter: What did it mean to you when you got the combine invite?
Tyrone Crawford: It meant a lot because I talked to my teammates who were not invited that I felt deserved to be invited so I really appreciated it even more knowing how hard it was to get in. I am very excited, my agent and family are very excited. It is time to show what scouts haven’t seen in me. I am looking forward to this opportunity.
Scott Porter: What are your goals for the NFL?
Tyrone Crawford: I want to impress early and eventually start and make an impression. I want people to remember who Tyrone Crawford was. I want to go in there and make plays and work my way up and become a leader of a team. I want to prove to others that I have what it takes.
Scott Porter: Is there a player in the NFL that reminds you of yourself?
Tyrone Crawford: There are quiet a few but I really like Justin Tuck of the Giants. He has great power and I feel I am comparable to him once you see what I can do.
Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest accomplishments?
Tyrone Crawford: I’d say as a team losing 1 game by 1 point this year. We lost 2 games the last 2 years by a total of 4 points. I come from a winning team and we had the most winning QB in college history. My teams overall success while I was here is the biggest accomplishment.
Scott Porter: What type of person is an NFL team getting in Tyrone Crawford?
Tyrone Crawford: They are getting a versatile player and I can do more than what I show on film. I can play in a 4/3 or ¾ defense. I have great power and collapse the pocket. I have a great fight in me and I give the team a lot of motivation and energy. I bring it in all aspects to a team.
Scott Porter: What hobbies do you have off the field?
Tyrone Crawford: When I am not training I like working on little things to get better. I am still in school and doing homework. I like to rest and play madden.
Scott Porter: What areas of your game are you working to improve on to become an overall better player?
Tyrone Crawford: I am working on my quickness off the ball. I really want to get that first step down quick to make myself a better player. I am working on reaction and drop backs. I may have to drop back at LB and cover so I want to work on that. I am working on my pass rush moves to help me as an overall pass rusher. I am also working on my hips and getting better in that area.
