Scott Porter: Tells us what you are doing this off-season. Where are you working out and what other stuff do you have going on prior to the draft?

Jason Ford: I am working in Tampa, Florida with Josh Cooper at Cooper speed skills. I am working hard on my speed and other drills to get me ready for my pro day. I played in the NFLPA All-Star game where I had a good experience. I was the leading rusher in the game. I felt I did very well there in front of an audience and I think I really helped myself out.

Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest strengths?

Jason Ford: I feel my greatest strengths are my vision and my ability to block. I am good at catching the ball out of the backfield.

Scott Porter: What will you be focusing on this off-season to make yourself a better player at the next level?

Jason Ford: I am really focusing on my speed and acceleration to the hole. I feel I will pick on an offense fast but I would like to learn as much terminology as I can to prepare myself for that part.

Scott Porter: Who has been your biggest influence throughout your career?

Jason Ford: Shonn Greene has been a big influence to me because of our style of play being so similar. He picks up blocks well and can do a lot of things for a big back that I feel I bring to the table. Off the field my mother is a big influence. She is a hard worker and has always taught me what hard work does and what it takes to be a hard worker.

Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest accomplishments?

Jason Ford: I feel some of my greatest accomplishments are being 2nd all time in touchdowns at Illinois and being in the top 15 in career rushing yards. As a Freshmen I aimed for goals such as that and I accomplished a lot of what I came here to do in my mind.

Scott Porter: Is there a player in the NFL that you watch and see similar traits in you?

Jason Ford: Shonn Greene is the first that comes to mind. I also see similar traits in Michael Tuner and Frank Gore. I know I am not on that level yet, but I like to take their games and pick up on things. They have good size and are powerful backs like myself. They do a lot of little things well such as picking up blitzes. The stuff that doesn’t show up in the stats.

Scott Porter: What are your goals for the NFL?

Jason Ford: Get on a team and take advantage of an opportunity. I want to make an impact on special teams and fullback or running back whatever a team decides to do with me and then I will go from there.

Scott Porter: What hobbies do you have off the field?

Jason Ford: I like to play computer games and listen to music. I like watching old college football games also.

Scott Porter: What type of person and player is an NFL team getting in Jason Ford?

Jason Ford: They are getting a leader who is a hard worker and determined. I am very hungry and want to work hard to play in this league for a very long time.
