Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest strengths?
Brandon Marshall: I feel that I am very instinctive. I feel one of my greatest strengths I bring to the table is my ability to cover and shed blocks well. I feel I am a complete LB who can cover as well as tackle and I have a lot of upside and tools to work with at the next level to develop.
Scott Porter: What goals do you have for the NFL?
Brandon Marshall: I want to enter the NFL making an impact in anyway possible. I will start off on special teams and contribute in a great way there and then work my way into the rotation and land a starting job. I want to start and play in the NFL for a very long time.
Scott Porter: Is there a player in the NFL that reminds you of yourself or that you like watching and take some of his attributes and incorporate them into your own game?
Brandon Marshall: That is a good question I never thought about a player that reminds me of myself. I do like to watch Patrick Willis and Ray Lewis and pick up tips from them. They are very intense players who I look up to and watch as much as possible.
Scott Porter: What do you feel are your greatest football accomplishments?
Brandon Marshall: Team wise my Junior season we went 13-1 and beat Boise State which was a huge win for our program. It was an OT thriller and a game none of us will ever forget. Individually making it this far is a huge accomplishment in itself and being considered for the NFL draft. Showing that all of my hard work is paying off. It feels real good to make my mother proud.
Scott Porter: What hobbies do you have off the field?
Brandon Marshall: I like going to church and going to movies. I like to bowl and hang out with friends and relax.
Scott Porter: Did you have a favorite NFL team growing up as a kid?
Brandon Marshall: The Denver Broncos.
Scott Porter: What type of person and player is an NFL team getting in Brandon Marshall?
Brandon Marshall: They are getting an outstanding citizen who has or will never have any off field issues. Everything I get I will work hard for. Nothing is going to change in terms of how hard I work. I have a terrific work ethic. I work hard on and off the field. In the weight room, during film study. I work as hard as I can with the goal to be the best LB in the NFL.
Scott Porter: What are you doing from now until NFL draft time?
Brandon Marshall: I will be playing in the Shrine Bowl which has been an exciting and fun time thus far. I am training with API in L.A.. I am working hard on speed and explosiveness. I really want to become more explosive off the ball and become a faster player. You can always work on those things.
Scott Porter: What areas of your game do you want to take to the next level to become a more rounded LB?
Brandon Marshall: I want to work on my open field tackling and in general tackling for the most part. That is a huge part of the LB’s responsibilities so that has to be as good as possible when I enter the NFL. You got to be able to be a great tackler to be an elite LB. I want to work on shedding blocks faster also.
Scott Porter: Who has been your biggest influence?
Brandon Marshall: My mother. My mom has always been there for me and supported me. She has worked very hard and sacrificed a lot for me to be in this position. Ever since I was a kid my mother was the main reason I played. I want to be able to give back to her for the things she has done for me in my life. She has always helped support my brother and I. She always made our education very important and put food on the table for us. I can’t say enough good things about my mother and the influence she has been for me throughout this process.
