The odds are up pretty much everywhere now and the Super Bowl spreads are posted at BetUs. Most people won’t be surprised to hear that the New England Patriots are the favorites to win it all.
While the AFC has been the dominant conference over the last decade or so, the NFC has won two of the last three Super Bowls. Here are three teams that can derail this Patriots bandwagon:
New Orleans Saints
It seems like the Saints are a forgotten outfit nowadays but let’s do a quick reminder: they are still the reigning, defending Super Bowl Champions. They had a sluggish start to the season but they have won six straight games and still have an excellent shot to win the division and steal home field advantage for the playoffs. And since they’ve been there before, they are more than capable of winning the Super Bowl again.
The Atlanta Falcons are currently the best team in the NFC and if they can secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs, they should have a safe passage to the Super Bowl. The Falcons are 19-1 at the Georgia Dome when quarterback Matt Ryan starts.
The Falcons might be the most balanced team in the NFL and that could be a handful for a young Patriots defense…if the Falcons can make to Super Bowl 45.
Two words for you: Michael Vick. Is there any team in the NFL that is really interested in running into the Philadelphia Eagles dynamic weapon in the playoffs? Vick is the type of player that can win any type of one-game playoff by himself and the Patriots – or any other AFC team that survives to make it to the Super Bowl – is hoping that some other team can knock Vick and the Eagles out of the playoffs.
